Note from Westside’s Owner: How We Price Our Services

At Westside Appliance Repair, we are committed to providing our customers with the highest level of customer service and repair at a reasonable cost. Unlike many local appliance repair companies, we do not charge by the hour. We’ve found this pricing structure is impacted significantly by the quality and experience of the technician, and is very inconsistent.  Instead, we utilize the National Flat Rate Appliance Repair Pricing/Blue Book Major Appliance Job Rate Guide to determine the price of a repair.  This is a price guide developed for the appliance repair industry and is used nationwide.  This pricing guide takes into account the complexity, potential liability factors/costs (water damage, scratched floor…) and time to complete the repair in determining the price we charge.  Additional factors impacting our pricing include information technology costs, overhead costs, insurance costs, service van related costs…and more. 

We take pride in being the largest and best appliance repair company in the Des Moines area.  We currently have 15 service repair technicians and run approximately 110-120 service calls each day!  We are also the only Whirlpool factory-certified appliance repair company in the state of Iowa, meaning our technicians go through rigorous training on all the brands we service before we send them to your home to perform your repair or maintenance.

At Westside, we differ from our local competition by following the highest industry standard for technician training and only use manufacturer quality and warranted parts.  We have the largest stock of parts in Central Iowa, and offer the option for customers to stop buy and purchase an appliance repair part to complete simple repairs themselves. These high-quality parts are also used by our technicians to fix your appliances. While you may find parts cheaper online, these sites often do not provide consistent availability for the wide variety of parts our customers and our technicians needs to complete your repairs. 

We hire only the best service repair technicians and compensate them appropriately to retain a high-quality team to meet your repair needs.   We offer a full benefit package for our employees, including health and dental insurance.  Each of our service technicians is required to pass a nationally recognized background check and drug test annually.  If you call a competitor, ask them how they complete background and drug testing on their technicians!  And, like stated above, each of our service technicians receives factory certified training from appliance manufacturers. 

We keep our service vans and equipment well maintained.  We don’t leak oil in your driveway.  Our technicians wear a professional uniform.  If you provide your email address, you will receive a notification of your upcoming service call. 

In summary, our pricing is not the cheapest in town, because we don’t want to provide the lowest quality service.  Our goal is to ensure your appliance problem is resolved quickly and effectively by a repair technician that is experienced, better trained than our competitors and safe to be in your home.
