  1. Regular Fireplace Maintenance

  1. Clear Snow Off Your Dryer Vents

Though dryer vents let out heat while in use, it’s not enough to melt through deep snow. To avoid issues with your dryer, such as a hotter than normal exterior, your clothes taking longer to dry or not drying enough, or a burnt lingering smell in your laundry room, it’s crucial you clear any and all snow that is clogging your dryer vent. A good indicator of a properly working dryer is that it lets out a steady stream of steam from its vent. If this isn’t the case, your clogged dryer vent will pose a higher risk of catching fire.

  1. Keep your Kitchen Appliances Clean

Be sure to clean up any food that has spilled, leaked, or splattered in your microwave, on your stovetop, or in your oven. Neglecting these messes can lead to serious fire risks and will make it harder to cook or heat up your food. Use a damp cloth to wipe down any messes as they arise to avoid stubborn buildup over time.

We are one of the only companies in town that does them and have also observed candidates with failed background checks getting hired by local competitors. What else does Westside do to ensure quality service?

Pre-employment vetting: Along with vetting our technicians with a criminal background check and drug screening, we evaluate our prospective employees for professionalism and a customer-service mindset. We check their driving records pre-employment as well to make sure they are safe, distraction-free drivers.

Factory-certified training: Once employed, our new technicians join our factory certification trainee program. This includes a three-week hands-on training course at Fred’s Appliance Academy in Ohio. We require our technicians to become Factory Certified on Whirlpool product lines (soon GE as well). For Whirlpool, our technicians must pass 44 online tests on subjects including basic electrical knowledge, diagnostic and trouble-shooting appliances, and customer service/behavioral skills. After the initial factory certification, our technicians must attend multiple factory trainings each year on new products and education our manufacturers feel benefit us.

High standards of professionalism: A Westside technician will never come to your home out of uniform. Our technicians keep their vans and their appearance clean. They arrive during the two-hour service window and provide timely service with the goal of completing your repair in one trip if possible.

While scheduling your service, we listen diligently as you explain the issues you are having with your appliance, along with your specific make and model. We try to anticipate a few common problems that may be causing the issues you described, and show up to your appointment with the replacement parts needed for those possible repairs. You’ll never be charged for your repair in advance.

We Talk You Through our Appliance Diagnosis and Quote You for Service Beforehand

Once we are in front of your appliance, then we can really run the diagnostics needed to identify the root of your appliance’s issues. We’ll explain the tests we are running, and how we’ve concluded what is truly wrong with your appliance. Before doing any work, we’ll provide an estimate of how much we will charge to complete the repair. We’ll be honest with you if we think the repair will cost more than your appliance is worth, so you can make an informed decision as to if you’d like us to proceed.
