Expert Tip: Forgo the Manufacturer Extended Warranty

While extended warranties may sound like a great safety net, extended warranty companies are not easy to deal with when your appliance breaks down. Instead of having a staff of repair technicians, they rely on local companies like Westside to complete the repairs for them. Because the manufacturer or extended warranty companies want to make money too, they pay us a much lower rate than what we’d typically charge customers. Therefore, we use our discretion based on profitability and workload to decide whether or not to take the repair (most of our local competitors also decline these jobs). The companies that pick up these jobs are typically inexperienced.
